Plate Carrier Set Up
FCPC V5 Base + Wary Solutions Sam Rig
When it comes to setting up your kit, having a proper plate carrier is one of the most important aspects. However, many people don’t know how to setup their plate carrier in an optimal way. That being said, our team at Core Vision Training is going to walk through a practical, real-world build around the FCPC V5 Base with the Wary Solutions SAM Rig and explain why it’s built that way.
We’ll highlight what each item brings to the table and how you might configure them for what you need. Your gear should be purpose driven. Ferro Concepts’ FCPC V5 Base is a clean, light, and highly modular plate carrier.
Core Carrier — FCPC V5 Base
The FCPC V5 Base is the plate carrier only — front and rear plate bags and the carrier frame — sold without a cummerbund, so you can assemble the kit the way you need it. It’s lightweight (15–16 oz depending on size), built from 500D Cordura/laminate with stretch panels to better fit plates we use West Coast Armors plates and we’ll get in to that as well. The Carrier uses Ferro’s ADAPT system for zip-on back panels and front flap/pouch attachment. If you like starting with a well-engineered blank canvas, this is one of the best.
Add-Ons for your plate carrier
DOPE™ Front Flap
The D.O.P.E. (Diverse Operations Personal Equipment) Front flap integrates with Ferro’s G hook/ADAPT system. It allows flexibility between mags, admin tools, or medical gear while keeping the rig slim. In use we have three .556 mags — One Glock mag - a pair of Leatherman Raptors and Ferro’s Kangaroo Insert – Half Pocket containing a Field Notes journal — mechanical pencil — Core Visions Ranging Card (https://www.corevision-training.com/ products/ranging-card)
ADAPT 3" Assault Cummerbund
THE ADAPT3 Assault Cummerbund is a semi-rigid for stability with a hidden stretch panel for comfort. Provides a secure platform for side-mounted gear and side plates.
FC Shoulder Pads
The FC Shoulder Pads add a tri-fold laminate with foam and mesh, these pads improve comfort under load and provide clean routing channels for comms and hydration.
